A November 28th 1941 meeting in Berlin between Adolph Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Al-Hajj Amin al-Husseini, became the topic of conversation in the world over the past 36 hours after Israel's "far-right wing" Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman instructed that the photo be sent to missions around the world.
For those who don't know, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem is the highest official of religious law and is not only a spiritual leader, but a political leader as well. Although al-Husseini was known as a proponent of the establishment of an Arab State in Palestine, he was most well respected for his role in the Arab revolt of 1936 against the Zionists and the British which lasted for three years. Shortly after that time after fleeing to Lebanon, Iraq and Italy, al-Husseini went to Germany where he and Hitler found ways to support each other's efforts, with their shared interest in fighting against the British and the Jews.
So back to Lieberman and the photo. Why is Israel circulating a photograph of Hitler and the late Grand Mufti nearly 68 years later? The al-Husseini family land, and more specifically "The Shepherd Hotel" which belongs to the family in occupied East Jerusalem where Jewish-American millionaire Irving Moskowitz is currently converting the hotel into apartments as part of an illegal Israeli settlement, an act condemned by the US and the EU.
The logic is clear... or as clear as the Garden Gnome Hitler scandal in Germany... A Nuremburg court ruled Wednesday that the art exhibit with 70 golden garden gnomes with the right hand raised in a Hitler solute was not illegal and was actually ridiculing the Nazis.
Anyhow, back to the negative spin on the family to justify the Jewish colonization of a Palestinian neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
If I am understanding Lieberman's logic correctly, I predict Israel's next move will be to ensure that IBM is no longer deemed welcome in Israel. While IBM was the first major US company with a wholly owned subsidiary in Israel, introducing computers to the country, IBM also met with Hitler. In fact IBM was instrumental in facilitating the processing and execution of Jews in internment concentration and extermination camps, through the utilization of a punch card and punch card sorting system. Please use this photo of Hitler and IBM President Thomas J. Watson with your own free will.
brilliant...
those gnomes would scare ANYBODY...yikes~
