Introduction

The people of Bil’in held their 50th demonstration in the village on Friday 15 July, protesting the construction of the Annexation Barrier which will isolate more than 60% of the lands of the village.

Theses pictures are from the nonviolent demonstration and the arrests of the interntional, Israeli and Palestinian demonstrators.

Abdullah Abu Rahme and Akram Al Khatib are still being held in police custody.

The period of "relative calm", which is being referred to by the media and by both Abu Mazen and Sharon, is a non-reality based idea that exists in a frame of reference which ignores the violence of the Occupation that has taken place during the past five months since the declared ceasefire.

Tens of Palestinians have been killed, thousands injured and arrested. Israeli settlers have been frequently attacking Palestinians, illegal Israeli settlements are expanding. The construction on the Annexation Wall continues, and the other facets of the Occupation have become normalized (arrests, home demolitions, checkpoints... see the month of June alone: 16 killed, 140 injured, 245 arrested).
